    Hi Paul, Another comment on your videos haha. i have seen a scenario where If PP and PPK fail to achieve the minimum requirement e.g. 1.67 but CP and CPK passes. The big factor is the tolerance is so small it doesn't leave much room for any process variation as PP and PPK is long term. What are your thoughts on this due to tight tolerances?

    Hi Paul, first I have to say that I'm happily surprised with your fast response!! I really appreciate it. Now my question is mostly about which type of MSA should I perform, due to such small quantity, however they do are expensive devices that we most make sure are their measurements are accurate.

    Hi Paul, thank you so much for your very informative videos. Could you please advice what type of MSA would you recommend to perform in a service shop where you can only find 2 pieces of the device to be measured on any given day? and no more than 50 devices are serviced per year, do we really need to perform MSA?

    • @paulallen5321
      @paulallen5321 9 дней назад

      Good to hear from you, it really depends on what those measures are for. If you make expensive business decisions or important customer checks that could be costly it would be great to be accurate. If they are not important measurements, sure don't need an MSA...

    Hi Paul. What are your thoughts about the main difference between MSA TYPE 1 study and MSA TYPE 3 study? if you are measuring a Diameter of a product with a non contact measuring device, would either be ok to use? any advice would be appreciated

    • @paulallen5321
      @paulallen5321 9 дней назад

      Type 1 only works where the process is all machine based. You'll get bias if you try type 1 with operators. Otherwise type 2 is always best to do.

    • @deanopenn
      @deanopenn 9 дней назад

      @@paulallen5321 Thanks Again for your swift response, so you wouldn't do a type 1 study based on the operator placing the component onto the measuring device and its a non contact measurement? once its in place the operator has no influence and can only work if its placed where it should be? Also do you thing a type 3 study is feasible, somebody has mentioned this before but this is something i have not come across (only seen type 1 and type 2)

    • @paulallen5321
      @paulallen5321 13 дней назад

      Hi Dean - good to hear from you. I would say that in the PPAP you only have enough data to work out CmK. You havent completed a production run yet, so the first 50 or 100 peices is all the variation you can see..and that is essentially a Cmk value...

    Clean desk, empty skull. I used to work as a bench repair engineer, I had 7 desks, i'd have multiple jobs on the go at any one time. Company director was an accountant by trade, wanted "clean desk policy", wanted any jobs waiting for parts to be put into a box and hidden away, like good luck finding out which screw goes where when you bunch them all into a plastic bag, I lay out fixings/etc as a screw map around the item i'm working on. People who don't do your job, don't understand why you work the way you do, they just see an untidy mess and try to apply office logic to it. Now I work in manufacturing, from a desk in an engineering office, I don't have so much physical mess around, but I may have product samples laid out, they can't be tagged because if anyone accidentally puts one back into the production line it'll snag on the conveyors and cause a breakdown, as well I have 2 laptops, 1 PC and 3 monitors, same nonsense though "clean desk policy", when we already use 5s, it's just people with little/no work to do, looking for problems to solve, constantly pointing the finger at other people, other departments, so that nobody ever questions why that person is actually needed. Same people keep getting on at the engineers for not wearing our ID lanyards (ie noose) around our neck, again people who don't do the job, office admin types with absolutely no idea what other peoples jobs involve, sticking their beaks in and trying to control everything.

Some grinding processes naturally move from top to bottom tolerance. Other than that, there role is to use the rules/settings specified. If they do that and the process goes hay wire, we know there is a problem that they need help with. What are your thoughts?
